Super Carry Ultra+ and Ultra+ CDP II

May 25th, 2011

Kimber Super Carry Ultra+

I shot some photos back in February of Kimber’s two new + models – the Ultra+ CDP II (Ultra CDP II Plus) and Super Carry Ultra+ (Super Carry Ultra Plus) and for some reason, I forgot to post them.

Even though the guns aren’t available from the factory yet, they are still worth checking out. We have made recent inquiries about availability and it sounds like they’ll start shipping in the next month or two. Originally we expected to have them by now….

The big draw to the Super Carry Ultra+ and Ultra+ CDP II is the full size frame and 3″ barrel / slide combination. Both pistols are Custom Shop. There are some shooters who would love to have a full size frame but want a short slide – this meets their demands. One poster over at 1911forum.org pointed out that this design is perfect for those carrying concealed in a shoulder holster.

Kimber Solo CDP

April 14th, 2011

Kimber has a new Solo in the works. This new model will be called the Solo CDP and features a few improvements / desired features missing on the current Solo model.

In addition to the Kimber Solo CDP’s addition of rosewood Crimson Trace lasergrips, the Solo CDP also gains night sights, front strap checkering, and back strap checkering. The front and back strap checkering added to the Solo CDP will please a lot of shooters – some are adding skate tape to the frame to increase the texture / improve the grip because when your hand gets sweaty, it tends to get slippery.

See the photo of the Solo CDP below along. We currently do not have a projected release date. It is safe to say that it will be around the fall considering that the Solo Stainless won’t start shipping until sometime around June.

We have 150 Solo CDP models on order already and will likely increase that depending on demand. The estimated retail price is $1,223. There will likely be very long wait times for this model considering that the demand for the regular two tone and stainless model are so backed up. If you’re interested in being notified when this model is available for sale, send an email to john@osagecountyguns.com or leave a comment.

Kimber Solo CDP

You’ll notice that the Crimson Trace grips now have the Kimber logo. The previous demo version we saw at SHOT didn’t feature the logo.

Below you’ll see the Solo CDP compared to the regular Solo Two Tone.

Solo Update… Where are they??

April 8th, 2011

A lot of people are probably wondering where all the Kimber Solo’s are. Well, so are we.

We know that the stainless model (aluminum frame with silver finish – there has been a lot of confusion on this because it is not a stainless steel frame) is not yet shipping. My guess is that the factory is focusing on delivering as many two tone models as possible before producing / shipping the stainless model.. Based on a recent discussion with our factory rep, it is likely that shipping for the Solo Stainless will start in or after June.

It would appear that the overall demand for Kimber’s Solo was significantly higher than the factory anticipated at the time it was announced. For example, we currently have 300+ on order. I don’t know how many the factory is producing per month but I’m guessing it isn’t more than a thousand or two. There are at least 500 Kimber Master Dealers and probably around 1500 to 2000 dealers in total. Every dealer will have at least one on order and if they are like us, much more. You can do the math.

Basically, the factory just can’t keep up.

They are producing and shipping as fast as possible but the demand is through the roof. 2011 is obviously the year of the subcompact 9mm – with the release of the Sig Sauer P290 and Ruger LCP, in addition to the Solo. As a minor side note, the retail price of the Solo has been increased by the factory. I honestly forgot the new price but I believe it is about $735. I’ll post a correction if I find that to be wrong.

As we hear updates or receive more news, we’ll post it here. We closed the back orders on both Solo models over a month ago once we saw just how slowly Kimber’s Solos were shipping. If you’d like to be notified about availability of either model, just send an email to john@osagecountyguns.com. We’ll contact everyone in order of their inquiry as pistols become available.

On another note, we saw the rosewood Crimson Trace laser grip on a Solo Stainless back at SHOT Show in January. That grip has just appeared on the Crimson Trace website – strangely, the grip probably won’t be available for sale until the fall. I’m not quite sure why Crimson Trace would advertise the grip when availability is worse than the Solo itself. The black LG-408 is supposed to be shipping sometime in the next month. Below is the graphic from Crimson Trace’s website showing the LG-408 P10 – Rosewood finish. The grips will be sold exclusively through Kimber so we cannot buy them from Crimson Trace, unlike many other grips. We’ll place an order for the rosewood Solo grips as soon as the factory starts taking orders.

LG-408 Crimson Trace Lasergrips for the Solo

March 31st, 2011

Crimson Trace LG-408 for SoloWe just found some information about a soon to be release Crimson Trace laser grip for the Solo / Solo Stainless. The laser will be nearly identical to the rosewood model we saw recently at SHOT Show – except black.

The model for the new Solo Crimson Trace is LG-408 and we’ve got 10 on order already. We’re guessing it will be another month or two before they are available.

If you want to be notified about availability, send an email to john@osagecountyguns.com.

Crimson Trace $50 Mail in Rebate

March 29th, 2011

Crimson Trace just started a new promotion for their laser grips. I believe this is the first time that Crimson Trace has run a mail in rebate…

The rebate is for $50 and is valid on purchases between April 2, 2011 and June 30, 2011. There does not seem to be a limit per household but each rebate must be sent in individually. The rebate is only applicable to individual laser purchases. You can’t use it for a laser that you bought on a gun.

Right now we are running a sale on the black LG-401 laser grip for full size 1911’s. This grip is on sale for $229 and after the rebate, you’re at $179…

You can download a copy of the rebate form by clicking the graphic below and we will include a rebate form with each laser purchased.

We’re running a great sale on the black 1911 Crimson Trace laser grip – the LG-401. This model normally runs $339 and is on sale for $229.

The LG-401 is a standard front activated Crimson Trace laser grip that can be used on any full size 1911. Eclipse Custom II 10mm In stock!

March 2nd, 2011

Back in the late fall (2010) we started ordering Kimber 1911’s in .38 Super and 10mm. Up to that time we had only been stocking 9mm and .45 ACP. The demand is definitely there for 10mm models though and very few dealers carry this caliber.

We just received a shipment of Eclipse Custom II’s chambered in 10mm. We’ve got the pistol in our store with detailed photos and specs.

2011 Upgraded Royal II at SHOT

January 25th, 2011

Kimber 2011 Royal II
We mentioned earlier in the month that Kimber was upgrading the Royal II for 2011 making it much fancier and definitely more expensive.

The Turnbull finished Royal was on display at SHOT and we snapped a few photos. It is definitely beautiful and the finish is so shiny that it was hard to catch good photos in the SHOT environment. Below is what we ended up with and we’ll hopefully be getting some of the first new Royal II models that Kimber ships! When we do, we’ll post better quality photos. See all the photos.

Super Carry Pro HD, Custom HD, and Ultra HD Photos from SHOT

January 25th, 2011

Kimber Super Carry Pro HD
We had the opportunity to see and handle Kimber’s newest 2011 additions including the new Super Carry HD family.

These new pistols are all black and have a steel frame where the standard Super Carry models have an aluminum alloy frame.

We have found that the Super Carry Pro is the most popular model in the family and after handling the new HD models, we’re sure the Super Carry Pro HD will be the most popular in the group.

We also hope that with the expansion of the line, it will lead to new accessories like grips. We’ll keep our eyes open for any new grips from Kimber or third party makers and share news when we can. In the mean time, check out the photos from SHOT.
